Rock the Boat Permissions

Rock the Boat Permissions Policy for Online Book Readings

Here at Rock the Boat, we see shared reading as being more important now than ever. As such, we want to do all we can to support our reading community during these difficult times by relaxing our permissions guidelines.

Up until the end of March 2021 we grant full permission to allow teachers, librarians and authors, among others, to film themselves or others reading aloud from our children’s and YA books. You only have permission to do so if you’re hosting or sharing it free of charge.

We are mindful of the need to protect the rights and income of our authors and illustrators, so we also request that you follow the guidelines below:

  • Please hold up the book at the start and end of the reading
  • Mention the title, author and illustrator (if relevant) in both the video and caption
  • Say you’re reading with the permission of Rock the Boat
  • Buy links should be included in the post where possible
  • Please notify us via: publicity@oneworld-publications.com
  • Do remember to tag us and the author/illustrator on social media if you share your reading! We can be found @Rocktheboatnews
  • You will need to take down your video by 31 March 2021

Thank you for choosing our books to share! Feel free to drop us a line at the above email address if you have any questions.
