Robert Verkaik is the author of Posh Boys: How English Public Schools Ruin Britain and Jihadi John: The Making of a Terrorist. He is a journalist, writing regularly for The Guardian, Independent, Observer, Tortoise and Sunday Times. He is also a volunteer adviser with Citizens Advice.

Why You Won’t Get Rich tells the stories of people at the bottom as well as at the top of our economy, revealing how capitalism in its current form is too blunt an instrument to tackle Britain’s epidemic of inequality, an epidemic made even more glaring during the last eighteen months.

It argues that the only way to reverse the damage is to give everyone a financial stake in society.
