Taking care of yourself means taking care of your mind. There has long been a stigma surrounding mental health issues, which has meant that young people are often reluctant to talk about things that might be getting them down.

Whether these things are happening at home, at school or socially, they are a normal part of growing up. If you’re feeling lost, helpless or even just a little bit low, reading a good book can make you feel less alone and equip you with the tools needed to take positive steps in life.

Event chair, Steve Dearden, will be joined by acclaimed YA authors, Steven Camden (Nobody Real) and Sarah Mussi (Room Empty), to talk about how mental health issues can affect young people and how they are writing books that get what you’re going through.
