Blackwell's University Bookshop is proud to welcome to Sheffield two of crime fiction's finest, Will Dean & Sarah Ward. The authors will be in conversation, talking about their books and what inspires their writing.

The event will feature a Q&A session after the talk so make sure to have your questions at the ready!

Will Dean is the author of 'Dark Pines' selected for ITV's Zoe Ball Book Club and shortlisted for The Guardian's Not The Booker Prize. His sequel novel 'Red Snow' has just been published and he is currently on his UK tour. He grew up in the East Midlands, living in nine different villages before the age of eighteen. He was a bookish, daydreaming kid who found comfort in stories and nature (and he still does). After studying Law at the LSE, and working in London, he settled in rural Sweden. He built a wooden house in a boggy clearing at the centre of a vast elk forest, and it's from this base that he compulsively reads and writes.

'For all those who loved Dark Pines by Will Dean I can tell you that the forthcoming sequel, Red Snow, is even better. Scandi noir meets Gormenghast. Just wonderful. Can't get enough of Tuva Moodyson...'

- Mark Billingham, author of the Tom Thorne Novels

Local writer Sarah Ward is the author of four crime novels In Bitter ChillA Deadly ThawA Patient Fury and The Shrouded Path which are set in the Derbyshire Peak District. She frequently posts book reviews on her site 'Crimepieces' and has also reviewed for the Los Angeles Review Of Books. Her articles and short stories have appeared in the The Guardian, Sunday Express magazine, Metro, Red Online, Big Issue, Traveller and other publications. She is also one of the judges for The Petrona Award for the Best Scandinavian Crime Novel.

'This is archetypal Sarah Ward, in which familiar police procedural shenanigans are given a macabre and unsettling twist' - The Guardian ( The Shrouded Path)
