Part of Leeds Lit Fest 2020

British Council funded International Writer in Residence Diane Cook from the USA opens Leeds Lit Fest on the theme of Origins and Endings, showcasing her work and exploring the role of the writer in contemporary society.

How does speculative and apocalyptic fiction have its origins in the present? Why is it important for writers to imagine our world as it could be, for better or worse? Diane Cook is the author of the novel, The New Wilderness, and the story collection, Man v Nature which was a finalist for the Guardian First Book Award, the Believer Book Award, and the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction.
