The Rabbit Hutch Shortlisted for Debut Fiction Book of the Year

17th March, 2023

The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty has been shorlisted for Debut Fiction Book of the Year at the 2023 British Book Awards.

The judges said ‘Oneworld secured Tess Gunty’s The Rabbit Hutch with the highest advance the publisher has ever paid for a début. Set in America’s Midwest and described by Gunty as “a love song to the forgotten and the lonely”, Oneworld focused on getting the book into the hands of booksellers; a strategy that paid off when it won the inaugural Waterstones Début Fiction Prize.’

The winners will be announced on the 15th May 2023. Click here to find out more about the awards and the other shortlisted titles.

Oneworld Publications has also been shortlisted for three awards in the trade categories at the British Book Awards: Independent Publisher of the Year, Imprint of the Year and Editor of the Year. Read more about these shortlists here.
