Martin Bell, OBE, is a former independent MP and one of the outstanding journalists of our time, his distinguished career as a BBC war correspondent spanning thirty years. He has covered foreign assignments in more than ninety countries and eleven wars and is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Martin Bell has stood in war zones as both a soldier and a journalist. From Vietnam to Bosnia to Iraq, he has witnessed first-hand the dramatic changes in how conflicts are fought and how they are reported. In his new book War and the Death of News Martin gives a moving, personal account of the futility of war and and issues an impassioned call to put the substance back in our news. He is in conversation with journalist and former BBC gulf correspondent Julia Wheeler.
Martin Bell’s previous books include Through the Gates of Fire and An Accidental MP. He is sometimes known as ‘the man in the white suit’.
