Thomas Rydahl – London Literature Festival

4th August, 2017

Delve deeper into Nordic contemporary literature in this day of talks and readings.

From the way that historical narratives shape our present, to what dystopian visions can tell us about the future, to the way crime noir can reveal the gap between the Nordic dream and reality, literature from the north offers essential insights into our shared humanity.

We take an unflinching look into the dark world of noir, featuring internationally acclaimed authors Kati Hiekkapelto (Finland) and Thomas Rydahl (Denmark).

Three former winners of the Nordic Council Literature Prize, Kim Leine (Denmark), Ulla-Lena Lundberg (The Åland Islands) and Sofi Oksanen (Finland) unearth the hidden historical narratives which have shaped the present of the region.

We also look into the world of dystopian fiction, and the ways that literature can anticipate what happens next, featuring Jussi Valtonen, winner of the 2014 Finlandia Prize.
